It is with heavy hearts that we hear of Kevin Reid’s passing late yesterday night. The loss of Kevin represents a great loss to the local art community. He brought a unique perspective and a fresh voice to the city through his personal work and through his gallery, the Australian Aboriginal Art Gallery.
“I met with Kevin before he and his wife moved to Savannah to talk about the gallery culture here,” Daniel Smith, president of ARC Savannah, said this afternoon upon hearing the news. “His wife is a friend of my sister’s and they moved here with such high hopes and an aspiration to bring a broader sense of the arts to all of Savannah.”
“People who want to share their dreams and creativity are so important and this is a loss to all of us,” Smith continued. “Just in this brief time he had been a positive force in many of our lives.”
ARC’s board and staff extend their condolences to the family and loved ones of Kevin Reid.
